Mark 1:21-28: Gospel of Vic Version (2001)

Todays @tweetinMark story ala Melbourne, 2001.  Pretty interesting reading it now in light of the more recent controversies over St Michaels Minister Francis McNab’s “New Faith”, including his re-jigged 10 Commandments” and billboard campaigns/wars with Scots Church over the road on Collins Street.  Personally I’m not really a big fan of “liberal” theology and the overall approach of McNab, but the furore created by “new teachings” is captured well in the passage.

1.21 And they entered Collins Street, and straightaway at the AGM he entered BHP Petroleum Plaza at St. Michael’s Church and consulted. 22 And they were astounded at his teaching for he was teaching them as one having authority and not like that of the professional consultants. 23 And straightaway there was in their boardroom a man with an unclean spirit and he screamed out, 24 saying, “What do you want with us, Jesus you Gippslander. Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God! 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come out of him!” 26 T he unclean spirit threw him into convulsions and, screaming with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 And they were all so amazed that they discussed it with one another saying, “What is this? A new consultancy with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him!” 28 And rumors about him spread live to air, everywhere through Melbourne and regional network relays.
