Behold the Lamb Ad : Epiphany 2A, 2017

Bit of fan fic midrash mashing with this week’s readings of the Revised Common Lectionary versus the Meat and Livestock Association traditional ‘Australia Day’ advertisement for Lamb consumption….

The next day the Lambassador saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the unjust desires and scape-goating violence of the world! (John 1:29)

“You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with the purchase of flag branded perishables, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)

So #changethedate. Get rid of the old strichnine laced poison offering you once were that you may be a new serving without poison – as you really are.  For Christ, our Passover (‘Paska’) lamb, has been sacrificed.  (1 Cor. 5:7)

“And between the Parliament and the living creatures of the dreaming and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain…” (Rev. 5:6)

Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of mighty peals of fireworks, crying out,

“You Beauty! Love wins! for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his chosen have made themselves ready; draped in a flag of justice.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who respond to the invitation to the backyard barby of the Lamb.”

And the barby has no need for fireworks, its light is the glory of the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the powers of the earth will reconcile with it. Its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. People will bring into it the decolonized diversity and the honour of the nations. (..from Rev 18 & 21)
